I am very disappointed in the services I received at Brian's. Not only did they fail to resolve the problem, I was lied to and charged exorbitant rates for second class work. My vehicle had issues starting and Brian installed a refurbished starter and battery, which was most likely needed considering the starter was the original one installed in 1995. He charged $652.84 for this service. The check engine light came on a few days later so I returned to have diagnostics run. Three codes came up: Engine Coolant Temperature sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor, and another one they said for which there was no further information. Brian reset the check engine light, Suzanne drove my car and told me it ran fine for them, but to bring it back if the light came on again which it did that same afternoon as I drove to work. When I went back, Brian changed the ECT sensor and Suzanne told me that no one makes vehicle speed sensors anymore for the year of my car, to essentially ignore the check engine light if it comes on again, and to think about getting another vehicle as mine is/has become "obsolete." She also told me that my vehicle wouldn't be damaged if I didn't change the speed sensor, that my odometer would be off but nothing too serious to worry about. The check engine light came on the next day. I was a bit skeptical of Suzanne's claim regarding the nonexistence of speed sensors for my car so I began to look up online to either confirm, or disprove this claim; I also wanted to determine if I ought to find another repair shop. Not only did I find vehicle speed sensors, I also found transmission speed sensors, ABS speed sensors, and several others made specifically for the year of my car, in stock at two auto parts stores in the valley. I asked four mechanics with whom I interact regularly at my place of work to gauge what price range they would think appropriate for what I paid for a refurbished starter, new battery, and ECT sensor replacement. Every one of them was shocked at how much I was charged for these services. So, I took my car to Brent Allen Automotive to address the check engine light issue and they discovered the engine coolant temperature sensor connection was faulty, something that ought to have been checked prior to installing a new sensor. Brent Allen repaired the connection and charged less than Brian. Ultimately, I paid almost $900.00 in less than a month to Brian and my car still had the same issues (if not worse). Unfortunately I have to return to Brian's for a recalibration every two months, but I will not return to get my car repaired ever. Even if my car was broken down in his parking lot I would have it towed to another shop.
